Yet another Hetalia OC! I don't know if I'll ever getting around to writing her in, but she became so real to me over the course of many sketches I whipped up a profile for her and full back story.

Svalbard, perpetually frowny snarky little Nation-tan and eventual offspring of Faroes and Åland! Yes, she's technically under the Norwegian crown, but the bloodline goes Norway>Faroes>Svalbard SO IT'S STILL JUSTIFIED! /lame For those of y'all out there who don't like Nations having kids, I guess you could go the "they adopt her" route too. It mostly works out the same either way. XD

Svalbard has a pretty interesting history-it's gone uninhabited for long periods of time, and only recently has there been any effort to settle it seriously. A big part of a Nation showing up where a place had previously been part of another (England and Sealand, or Australia and Wy, for example) involves a sense of a separate identity growing. I kind of get the feeling that's only recently started on Svalbard in any meaningful way-they still don't even have their own flag (the one up there is the same one used for Svalbard in Scandinavia and the World to help differentiate her from Norge. Although it's a pretty badass flag) and use the Norwegian one. It doesn't have an official national day, but nation birthday's are more about significance than the actual date (see: America), so the day the Svalbard Act was signed seemed as good a choice as any.

Onto the lass herself! Svalbard/Britta Klingenberg-Gunvaldsen is quite young and hasn't grown as swiftly due to the fact she doesn't have much autonomy from Norway, about 6 or 7 years physically. Though she resembles Faroes very strongly for the most part, she inherited her pappa's eyes, propensity for messy hair, frowning, and BSoD-mode. Being a cold, remote island she presents a stoic front that covers the fact she's just pretty shy. She takes even more after her grandfather Norway as far as personality goes, but she doesn't quite have the life experience to be as controlled as he is all the time. Otherwise, she's a pretty normal little girl who enjoys fishing, adores her mother, and has amusingly similar reactions like her father's. Her purse represents the considerable polar bear population of Svalbard (fun fact, it's required to carry a gun around because of safety reasons vis the aforementioned polar bear population), and the leaf embroidery on her boots the Svalbard Global Seed Vault.

Svalbardmochi is supposed to be pretty tiny, too. She's a babymochi because she's so young still, hee. Shota!Svalbard is strangely amusing to me.
